Being a Classical Christian School, Covenant recognizes the absolute necessity for students to embrace the attributes of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty that they share with their Creator, God. One of the ways Covenant accomplishes this is through the creative expression of the Fine & Performing Arts.

Whether in Instrumental, or Vocal Music; the Theatre and Dramatic Performance; or the gift of expression given to the student to create through Art and Sculpture; Covenant Academy believes all students should embrace their creativity through the Fine & Performing Arts.

Fine Arts are introduced as early as K3 and infused throughout Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric Schools. Classes and programs offered include Art, Band, Chorus, Drama, Literary, and Music.

Art

Art has been defined as the “diverse range of human activities and the products of those activities, usually involving imaginative or technical skill." Students at Covenant Academy are encouraged and mentored in this process from their earliest days in the Grammar School and throughout their time in the Logic and Rhetoric Phases of the Classical Education model.

Students learn the fundamentals of Art with focus on the production of art works; art criticism; and the historical study; as well as the philosophy, or study, of the beauty of art throughout time.

Under the direction of Laura Bartow in the Grammar School and Jennifer Walker in the Logic & Rhetoric Schools, Covenant Academy Art students develop their gifts in the visual arts. This includes the creation of images and/or objects in the fields of painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and other visual media.

Band

Band performing at Winter ConcertCovenant Academy’s Band program had humble beginnings. It was started with a handful of 6th graders in the 2011-2012 school year and over the years, the Lord has blessed Covenant Academy with a growing and successful program.

Our band program is led by Mr. Chris Meyer with over 30 years of music education experience.

Currently, the Covenant Academy’s Band Program serves students in the 6th – 12th grade. Students start with Beginning Band in the 6th grade.  After 6th grade Band, students may continue their musical education by joining the 7th & 8th grade Band class where they will continue learning the fundamentals of instrumental performances that include performing Christmas and Spring concerts as well as performing as the Covenant Academy Pep Band for both middle and high school football and basketball games.  Finally, there is also a high school Band class that serves 9th – 12th grade students. This class learns more advanced levels of instrumental performance while also continuing to perform on Christmas and Spring concerts as well as performing as the Covenant Academy Pep Band for both middle and high school football and basketball games throughout the year.

The current band program consists of approximately 70 students with a bright outlook for more growth in the coming years!
