History of Covenant Academy
Covenant Academy had its genesis with a deepening desire for Christ-centered
education for children among three like-minded families in 1987. The
fathers of these families joined later with a fourth to form the first Board
of Trustees to oversee the inauguration of our school with a five year old
kindergarten through fourth grade program on Vineville Avenue. In the Fall
of 1989, the school relocated to property on Wimbish Road in Macon where it
remained five years. With the opening of the 1994 academic year came the
move to our present campus on Ayers Road. With the opening of the 2001
academic year, Covenant Academy became a grammar school for grades 4K-6th.
In January of 2004, mid-way through the academic year, Covenant Academy
experienced a historic transition in governance. The school's then Board of
Trustees transferred the schools governance to a new Board of Trustees.
Since then, Covenant has acquired additional acreage and built several new
additions to our facilities. In addition to multiple sections being added in
the grammar school, grades 7 through 12 have been added back to Covenant's
academic program. In 2006, Covenant added its first Athletic Director,
entered into GISA athletic competition, and began the school's first
football program.
Overarching the life of Covenant Academy have been reliance on the grace of
God, the prayers and support of His people, and a forthright commitment
since our inception to providing classical curriculum and instruction
squarely rooted in the Word of God. Our aim is to be found teaching for
mastery and training for servant leadership in the knowledge of God.
